As January Comes and Goes

I'm sitting with the sniffles and snots taking a sick day so I figured I would catch up on about a months worth of blogging. Considering all the happenings in the last month and my lack of post this is indubitably going to be a long post... I may even split it in two!

Where to even start!! Well I guess that last pictures I took since my last post!

In these pictures you can see 44, myself, Ben, and Austen taking a cooking lesson from a well known chef in the chef world that came to the house for the day. We had lots of fun and learned a lot... Like how to properly cut and onion and why to dust a cake pan as well as grease it! Grease keeps it from sticking and dusting the pan help the cake to rise on the side to prevent as much doming in the middle! Always have dusted my cake pans but never really knew why! We made cabbage, bean and winter vegetable soup, Bordeaux-braised lamb shanks with white beans, roasted brussels sprouts and pears, and cherry-almond clafoutis! If any of you would like any of these receipts let me know and I will put it in my next blog post! This one will be too long as is! Tami, 44, Austen, and I all dueled in some wii games before Austen left to go back to school. Since then things have resumed as normal after the holiday session around here at BrightWood! Morning chores, hunt preps, cleaning the barn, working at the clinic, playing with my horses, riding Rae's horses... all in a days work. Charlie has been loving it here and I love taking pictures and videos of him. His favorite things to do is go on rides, chase the horses from the other side of the fence, and nap. He is not so fond of the ticks and long days in the kennel but he is a good boy about it most the time. Here is a Charlie montage!

Here are a few more pictures and a video of every day life in January at BrightWood! Please excuse my highly annoying voice in the video!

  1. You are just settled right in...lovely pics. And two horses and a dog out on a ride...impressive. I hadn't heard about the chef adventure. Cool.
